CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY.
_______ IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS, DAMAGE TO THE APU CAN OCCUR.
(1)
Do these steps to install the starter motor (1):
(a)
Make sure the quill shaft of the starter motor (1) turns freely.
(b)
Lubricate the new packing (6) with a light coat of oil.
(c)
Install the packing (6) on the quill shaft of the starter motor (1).
(d)
Put the coupling clamp (7) loosely on the starter motor adapter.

CAUTION: YOU MUST HOLD THE STARTER MOTOR WHILE YOU INSTALL THE
_______ COUPLING CLAMP. IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE STARTER MOTOR, IT CAN BEND AND DAMAGE THE QUILL SHAFT IN THE STARTER MOTOR.
(e)
Carefully put the starter motor (1) on the starter motor adapter. 1) Open the coupling clamp (7) to permit the alignment pin on
the starter motor (1) to engage the alignment pin hole on the starter motor adapter. 2) Make sure the alignment pin on the starter motor (1) is aligned and engages the hole on the starter motor adapter.
(f)
Put the coupling clamp (7) over the flanges of the starter motor (1) and starter motor adapter. 1) Tighten the coupling clamp (7) to 40-50 inch-pounds
(4.5-5.7 newton-meters).
(g)
Do these steps to connect the two terminal leads (2) to the starter motor (1): 1) Connect the two terminal leads (2) to the two terminals
with the four washers (3), two washers (4) and two nuts (5).
NOTE: The starter motor has no positive or negative
____ terminals. You can connect each terminal lead to one of the two terminals.
2) Tighten the two nuts (5) to 88-106 inch-pounds (9.9-12.0 newton-meters).

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
(a)
P6-2 Main Power Distribution Panel
1) 6K18, APU ALTN CONT
(b)
P83 Aft APU Equipment Control and Circuit Breaker Panel 1) APU PRIME CONT

Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU control switch on the P5 overhead panel.

(3)
Close the left APU access door, 317AL, and right APU access door, 318AR:
(a)
Remove the two quick-release pins, disconnect the two hold-open rods and put the two hold-open rods in the two clips on the right access door.

(b) (c) Install the two quick-release pins in the two brackets on the right APU compartment bulkhead.Lift the right access door until you can install the lanyard on the pin at the aft APU compartment bulkhead.
NOTE:____ The lanyard will hold the right access door on the APU compartment bulkhead.
(d) Remove the two quick-release pins, disconnect the two hold-open rods and put the two hold-open rods in the two clips on the left access door.
(e) (f) (g) (h) (i) Install the two quick-release pins in the two brackets on the left APU compartment bulkhead.Make sure the insulation covers are correctly attach to the APU compartment firewall.Lift the left access door until the two APU access doors are approximately aligned.Close the two APU access doors.Close the six latches on the right access door.
