Oil Filter Differential Pressure Indicator (Fig. 1)

 A.  The differential pressure indicator for the oil filter is designed to mechanically react to increasing pressure in the oil filter element due to filter contamination. When the pressure inside the oil filter element reaches a point when the oil filter element is clogged, a spring in the indicator compresses to trip a pop-up button. The normally-retracted pop-up button shows that the oil filter element is clogged and the oil filter element must be replaced. The location of the oil filter differential pressure indicator is on the oil sensor housing.
Operation

 A.  The oil level sensor in the oil tank sends a continuous oil quantity signal to the APU controller. The oil temperature sensor and oil pressure switch, located downstream of the oil sensor housing, send oil indicating signals to the APU controller. A hydro-mechanical indicator, which senses high oil filter element pressure, has a visual pop-up button to show the oil filter element is clogged.
