Remove the rate sensor (4).
(i)
If the new or serviceable rate sensor (4) does not have the elbow (8) and its attaching parts, remove these parts from the rate sensor: 1) Remove the elbow (8), nut (9), ring (10) and packing (11). 2) Discard the packing (11).
(j)
If the new or serviceable rate sensor (4) does not have the elbow (17) and its attaching parts, remove these parts from the rate sensor: 1) Remove the elbow (17), nut (16), ring (15) and packing
(14). 2) Discard the packing (14).

Make sure you install all necessary protection covers.

CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HIT THE AIR INLET PLENUM WITH YOUR HANDS
OR YOUR TOOLS. DAMAGE TO THE AIR INLET PLENUM CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:_______ REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY.
IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS, DAMAGE TO THE APU
CAN OCCUR.
(1)
Do these steps to install the rate sensor (4):
(a)
If the rate sensor (4) does not have the elbow (8) and its attaching parts, install these parts to the rate sensor:
CAUTION: DO NOT LUBRICATE THE PACKING (11) WITH ENGINE OIL.
_______ ENGINE OIL CAN DAMAGE OR CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THE PACKING.
1) Install the new packing (11), ring (10), nut (9) and elbow (8) on the rate sensor (4).
2) Tighten the nut (9) with your fingers.
(b) If the rate sensor (4) does not have the elbow (17) and its attaching parts, install these parts on the rate sensor:
CAUTION: DO NOT LUBRICATE THE PACKING (14) WITH ENGINE OIL.
_______ ENGINE OIL CAN DAMAGE OR CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THE PACKING.
1) Install the new packing (14), ring (15), nut (16) and elbow (17) on the rate sensor (4).
2) Tighten the nut (16) with your fingers.
(c) Attach the rate sensor (4) to the bracket (2) with the two washers (12), two bolts (6) and two nuts (3). 1) Tighten the two nuts (3) to 36-40 inch-pounds (4.1-4.5
newton-meters).
