(2) Scavenge oil from No. 1, 2 and 3 bearings is gravity drained to the accessory gearbox. A scavenge pump returns oil from the No. 4 bearing area to the accessory gearbox. All the oil which is drained into the accessory gearbox collects in an oil sump located at the bottom to the gearbox housing. The accessory gearbox scavenge pump returns the oil through the external scavenge oil tube to the oil tank. A chip detector installed at the bottom of the gearbox housing collects ferrous metal particles in the oil. Also, a screen upstream of the scavenge pump prevents foreign matter from entering the oil tank.
