Procedure

(1)
Prepare these components for an electrical surface bond (SWPM 20-20-00):
(a)
Mating surfaces of the index plate and valve actuator.
(b)
Mating surfaces of the bonding jumper and bonding jumper tab.
(c)
AIRPLANES WITHOUT PRIMER BETWEEN THE SPAR AND THE ADAPTER PLATE; Mating surface of the front spar and adapter plate.
NOTE: If the spar has a protective finish (primer coating)
____ under the adapter plate, it is not necessary to do this step.

Do these steps to prepare the adapter plate for installation:
(a)
Lubricate the new O-ring with the petrolatum.

(b) (c) Install new packing in the groove on the adapter plate.Make sure the mating surface of the adapter plate is free from any petrolatum squeeze out.
(3) S 424-035Do these steps to install the adapter shaft: (a) Put the adapter shaft into the fuel tank through the opening in the rear spar. (b) Go into the fuel tank. (c) Engage the splines of the adapter shaft and valve body. (d) Install the bolts and washers (4 locations) that attach the adapter to the rear spar. (e) Install lockwire on the bolts.
(4) S 414-036Do these steps to close the fuel tank: (a) Close and go out of the fuel tank (AMM 28-11-00/201). (b) Install the applicable main tank access door(s) (AMM 28-11-02/401).
(5) S 824-042Do this task: Adapter Shaft Alignment (AMM 28-00-01/201).
(6) S 424-037Install the actuator for the jettison transfer valve in the inboard main tank and the bonding jumper (AMM 28-31-04/401).
