 NOTE: The drain hole is found on the seat for the discharge check valve
____ between the tangs for the flapper valve. Make sure the drain hole is plugged with a pin before you install the check valve.

 (1)  
If there is a pin in the drain hole no further maintenance action is necessary.

 (2)  
If there is not a pin in the drain hole, do this procedure.

 (a)  
Remove any sealant that can be in the drain hole.


 WARNING: DO NOT GET SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH, OR YOUR EYES, OR ON
_______ YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS ARE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.
 (b)  
Use solvent, Series 95 (AMM 20-30-95/201) to clean the drain hole.

 (c)  
After the drain hole is clean, dry the drain hole.

 (d)  
Prepare a small quantity of BMS 5-45 sealant.

 (e)  
Apply the BMS 5-45 sealant to the tapered end of the pin.

 (f)  
Gently tap the pin into the drain hole until the pin "bottoms out".


 NOTE: The pin will extend approximately 0.20 inch beyond the
____
 drain hole.

 (g)  
Make sure the mating surfaces of the seat for the discharge check valve are not bent or twisted (deformed).

 (h)  
FOR BMS 5-45, TYPE II, CLASS B-1/2; Let the sealant cure for 24 hours at 77°F (25°C) or higher.

FOR BMS 5-45, TYPE II, CLASS B-2;
 Let the sealant cure for 48 hours at 77°F (25°C) or higher.


 (10)
 Install the coupling (AMM 28-00-00/201).

 Go out of and close the fuel tank (AMM 28-11-00/201).

 Refuel the applicable fuel tank (AMM 12-11-01/301).

 Remove the motor/impeller unit from the override/jettison pump (AMM 28-31-01/401).

 (14)
 Do a check for leaks on the override/jettison pump housing and inlet and discharge check valves.


 (3)  S 434-027Put a new O-ring (packing), lubricated with petrolatum, in the bottom O-ring groove on the discharge check valve seat.
 (4)  S 434-048Put a new O-ring (packing), lubricated with petrolatum, in the top groove on the discharge check valve seat. (a) Slightly stretch the O-ring before you put it in the groove.
 (5)  S 424-028Put the discharge check valve assembly in its position on the discharge port of the override/jettison pump housing.
 (6)  S 424-030Put the discharge tube and the discharge ring in position on the discharge port of the override/jettison pump housing.
 (7)  S 434-031Install the screws, washers and nuts (6 locations) that attach the discharge tube and the discharge ring to the override/jettison pump housing.
 (8)  S 434-032Tighten the screws to a torque value of 17-19 pound-inches.
 (9)  S 434-045Install 2 new O-rings, lubricated with petrolatum, on the coupling that attaches the discharge line to the discharge tube.
