FUEL TEMPERATURE INDICATING SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
______________________________________________________________
1. General_______
A. The fuel temperature indicating system measures the temperature of the fuel in the No. 1 main tank and displays the temperature on the main EICAS screen at all times.
B. The system is operational when 28-volt dc power is supplied to the fuel system/EICAS interface card - main (FSEIC) from the 28V DC Bus 3.
2. Fuel Temperature Bulb (Fig. 1)_____________________
A. The fuel temperature bulb consists of a temperature-sensitive element enclosed in a metal case. The bulb is installed in the No. 1 main tank, mounted in an adapter on the rear spar. Resistance of the element varies with fuel temperature.
3. Operation (Fig. 2 and 3)_________
A. Functional Description
(1) When 28-volt dc power is supplied to the FSEIC, the system is operational. The FSEIC sends a signal to the temperature bulb and measures the bulb resistance on the return signal. Resistance value is converted to temperature at the FSEIC and data is sent to EICAS, through a digital data bus. The fuel temperature is displayed on the main EICAS screen.
