Procedure

(1)
Put the tank unit (4) in its position on the mounting bracket.
S 434-013

Install the bolts (3), washers (2), and nuts (1) (if necessary) (four locations) to attach the tank unit (4) to the mounting bracket.
NOTE: Attach the tank unit (4) to the top mounting bracket first.
____ Turn and move the bottom clamp on tank unit (4) to align with the bottom mounting bracket.

(3) Install the terminals (11) on the terminal block of the tank unit (4).
NOTE: The terminal posts have different dimensions to prevent
____ errors in installation. Install each terminal (11) on the correct terminal post.

(4) Install the nuts (8,9, and 10) on the terminal block of the tank unit (4).

(5) Tighten the nuts (8, 9, and 10) to these torque limits:
HI-Z 12-15 pound-inches
LO-Z 25-35 pound-inches
SHIELD 15-20 pound-inches

Put the clamp (5) around the FQIS wire bundle.

Put the clamp (5) in its position on the terminal block of the tank unit (4).

Install the washer (6) and nut (7) to attach the clamp (5) to the terminal block of the tank unit (4).

NOTE: After you replace a tank unit you can use the EICAS
____ maintenance pages to display the capacitance value of the individual tank units. (Reference the Dry Tank Capacitance Test) (AMM 28-41-00/501). Although the capacitance check can provide system information, it is not necessary to do this test. The only test that is necessary is the CMCS ground test, <FUEL QUANTITY IND. If the ground test shows a "PASS" indication the fuel quantity indication system is operational.
