FUEL OVERRIDE/JETTISON PUMP DISCHARGE CHECK VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains instructions to remove and install the discharge check valve for the override/jettison pumps.
B. A discharge check valve is installed in each override/jettison pump housing, found in the center wing tank and the inboard main tanks. The check valve is an in-line flapper type valve located in the discharge tube.
C. Access to the discharge check valves is through the applicable fuel tank access doors and, in the center wing tank, the spanwise beam access doors.
D. There is a drain hole found on the seat of the discharge check valve assembly. The drain hole is found between the flanges for the flapper valve. For the center wing and main tank override/jettison pump installations, this drain hole must be plugged. If the drain hole is not plugged, fuel can flow out of the drain hole and into the fuel tank when the fuel-feed manifold is pressurized. To plug the drain hole a pin is installed in the drain hole cavity and sealed with retaining compound or BMS 5-45 (BMS 5-45 is preferred). If there is a pin in the drain hole no maintenance action is necessary.
