AMM 28-11-00/201, Fuel Tanks is divided into paragraphs that prepare fuel tanks for entry as follows:
(a)
Purging and entry of main fuel tank
(b)
Purging and entry of reserve tank
(c)
Purging and entry of center wing tank

Purging and entry of wing surge tank

It is necessary to remove the inspar removable ribs to replace the reserve tank or outboard tank wire bundles (AMM 57-12-01/401).

For removal and installations of these ribs, it can be necessary to put the wing in the jig position (SRM 51-50-01).

The tasks for wire bundle removal and installation must be performed in sequence without changing airplane preparation or configuration.

After you replace a wire bundle you can use the EICAS maintenance pages to display the capacitance value of the individual FQIS components. (Reference the Dry Tank Capacitance Test) (AMM 28-41-00/501). Although the capacitance check can provide system information, it is not necessary to do this test. The only test that is necessary is the CMCS ground test, <FUEL QUANTITY IND. If the ground test shows a "PASS" indication the fuel quantity indication system is operational. (Reference the Fuel Quantity Indication System Ground Test) (AMM 28-41-00/501).
