 E. Override/Jettison Pumps for the Inboard Main Tanks Operational Test

 (1)  
Refuel the inboard main tanks to make sure there is enough fuel to prime the pump (Fig. 404) (AMM 12-11-01/301).

Put the applicable pump control switch for the override/jettison pump to the ON position:

 (a)  
OVRD 2 FWD

 (b)  
OVRD 2 AFT

 (c)  
3 OVRD 3 FWD

 (d)  
OVRD 3 AFT

Operate the pump for 30 seconds to move fuel inside the pump to the priming impeller.

 (a)  
When the PRESS indication light on the pump control switch goes off, the pump is primed.


 NOTE: Do not operate the pump for more than five minutes

Listen at the pump to make sure the override/jettison pump operates (or vibrates).

 NOTE: A low pressure indication for the override/jettison pump

 F. Override/Jettison Pump for the Center Wing Tank Operational Test

 (1)  If you replaced the override/jettison pump(s) in the center wing tank, do one of these procedures to prime the pump(s):
 NOTE: If the center wing tank fuel quantity is at or above LEVEL 1
____ (Fig. 405), then do METHOD 1 to prime the center wing tank pump(s). If the fuel quantity is below LEVEL 1, then do METHOD 2 or 3.
 (a)  
METHOD 1
 Use fuel head pressure to prime the pump


 (b)  
METHOD 2 Use the pressure refuel system to operate the wetting system

 (c)  
METHOD 3 Transfer fuel from the inboard main tanks to operate the wetting system
