Find the location of the FQIS wire bundle connector for the wing fuel tank (reserve, main or center wing tank) that is to be tested (SSM 28-41-01).

 (a)  
The main tank and the reserve tank FQIS wire bundle connectors are found on the front spar (left and right) next to the wing to fuselage fairing (access doors 511FB or 611FB).

 (b)  
The center wing tank FQIS wire bundle connectors are found on the rear spar in the left wheel well for the wing landing gear.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING
_______ EDGE AND TRAILING EDGE FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (3)  If it is necessary to test the FQIS wire bundle on the front spar (for the main and reserve tanks) extend the inboard leading edge flaps (AMM 27-81-00/201).

 WARNING: REFER TO AMM 27-81-00/201 FOR LOCK INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.
_______ FLAPS WILL RETRACT IN 7 SECONDS. INSTALL LOCKS TO PREVENT INJURY FROM INADVERTENT OPERATION OF FLAPS.
 (4)  
Install the locks on all the extended leading edge flaps
 (AMM 27-81-00/201).

Open access doors 511FB (left wing) or 611FB (right wing) to get to the front spar FQIS connectors.

 THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS.  THE DOORS CAN CLOSE
 QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY.  THIS

 CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (6)  
Do these tasks if it is necessary to test the FQIS wire bundle for the center wing tank (AMM 32-00-30/201):

 (a)  
Installation of the Door Locks on the Wing Landing Gear.

 (b)  
Installation of the Door Locks on the Body Landing Gear.

Make sure the DENSITOMETER switch on the the P747-2 test set is in the OFF position.

Disconnect the FQIS wire bundle connector at the applicable tank wall.

Connect the test equipment.

 (a)  
Use the PSD747-22 interconnect cable to connect the FQIS wire bundle connector with the PSD747-2 SIGNAL connectors.

 (b)  
Attach the PSD60-1 or PSD60-2 cables to these connectors (Fig. 503):


 NOTE: Make sure you attach the PSD747-2 test set and the
____ PSD60-1 or PSD60-2 to the same aircraft ground. You could cause stray capacitance values if you do not ground the cables correctly.
 1) LOZ and the HIZ connectors on the PSD747-2 test set 2) LOZ and HIZ connectors on the PSD60-1 or PSD60-2 calibration unit.

 (10) Put the PSD747-2 PROBE SELECT switch to the position(s) given in Figure 504 for the applicable compensator or tank unit.
 NOTE: Each compensator or tank unit has a PROBE SELECT switch
____ position. See Figure 504 for the correct compensator or tank unit position on the switch. The switch positions will not be the same for all the fuel tanks. Some of the PROBE SELECT positions are not used.

 (11) Measure the capacitance for the tank units.
