.PRECOOLER FAN AIR INLET
USE A BORESCOPE TO LOOK AT THE HPC 3RD-,5TH-, AND 9TH-STAGE BLADES AND COMBUSTION CHAMBER (BIRDSTRIKE) FOR DAMAGE (AMM 72-00-00/601) IF ONE OR MORE OF THESE CONDI-TIONS APPLY:
1.
DEBRIS APPEARS TO HAVE ENTERED GAS GENERATOR.
2.
BIRDSTRIKE RESULTED INMISSING MATERIAL TO THE FAN BLADES.
LOOK AT THE AIRFRAME FOR DAMAGE (AMM 5-51-37/201). IS THERE DAMAGE?
NO
11 CLEAN THE DEBRIS FROM THE ENGINE INLET.
CLEAN THE GENERATOR DRIVEOIL COOLER (AMM 71-00-58,FIG. 116).
CONTINUE THE ENGINE IN SERVICE.
IF BORESCOPE INSPECTION IS NECESSARY, BORESCOPE INSPECTION MAY BE DELAYED UP TO 10 CYCLES OR 15 HOURS, PROVIDED BIRDSTRIKE DID NOT RESULT IN MISSING MATERIAL TO THE FAN BLADES, SURGE/STALL, FLAMEOUT OR FAN BLADE DAMAGE THAT IS MORE THAN THE LIMITS IN THE AREA RADIALLY INWARD OF THE MIDSPAN SHROUD. THIS SERVICE EXTENSION IS ONLY PERMITTED ON ONE ENGINE IN THE EVENT OF A MULTI-ENGINE OR ONE ENGINE FOD EVENT AND IS NOT PERMITTED ON ETOPS FLIGHTS.

IT IS RECOMMENDED (NOT MANDATORY) TO DO A ONE-TIME REPEAT BORESCOPE INSPECTION AT A-CHECK OR 400-800 CYCLES TO ENSURE COMPONENT INTEGRITY.
