 (5)  If it is necessary, disassemble the thrust link assembly.
 (a)  
Remove the bolts, nuts and washers that attach the vertical deflector to the support brackets.

 (b)  
Remove the bolts, nuts and washers that attach the two support brackets to the evener bar.

 (c)  
Remove the bolts, nuts and washers that attach the evener bar to the fail-safe fitting and the thrust fitting.

 (d)  
Remove the evener bar from the fail-safe fitting and the thrust fitting.

 (e)  
Remove the bolt and collar to disconnect the fail-safe fitting and the thrust fitting.

 S 234-006-C00
 (1)  Get five new bolts or make an inspection of the old bolts as follows:
 (a)  Visually examine the boltss for signs of thread galling, nicks, shank scratches and irregular dimensions.

(b)  Make an inspection fo the bolts with dye penetrant (AMM
 71-21-00/601).

 S 434-006-C00
 (2)  
If it is necessary, assemble the thrust link assembly.

 (a)  
Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the mating cylindrical surfaces of the fail-safe fitting and the thrust fitting.

 (b)  
Attach the fail-safe fitting to the thrust fitting with the bolt and collar.

 (c)  
Put the evener bar in the fail-safe fitting and the thrust fitting and align the holes in the bar and fittings.

 (d)  
Attach the evener bar to the fail-safe fitting with the two bolts, two nuts, and four washers. 1) Tighten the nuts to 150-275 pound-inches


 (17-31 Newton meters).
 NOTE: It is usual to have some axial movement of these
____
 bolts.

 (e)  
Attach the evener bar to the thrust fitting with the bolt, nut, and two washers. 1) Tighten the nut to 250-430 pound-inches

 (28-49 Newton meters).

 (f)  
Install the two support brackets of the vertical deflector on the evener bar with the bolt, nut, and washer at each bracket.

 (g)  
Attach the vertical deflector to the support brackets with the four bolts, nuts, and washers.

 (3)  
Install the thrust link assembly on the strut.

 (a)  
Apply the antiseize compound to the wedge surfaces of the thrust fitting.

 (b)  
Apply the antiseize compound to the threads of the five bolts that attach the thrust link assembly to the strut.

 (c)  
Put the thrust fitting onto the lower surface of the strut and install the bolt and washer in the center. 1) Tighten the bolt until the wedges of the thrust fitting and

 the strut engage.

 (d)  
Install the four outer bolts and washers until the washers touch the thrust fitting.

 (e)  
Do a check of the barrel nuts for self-locking torque.
