Adjust the Latch Bolt
NOTE: The fan cowl panel lower latches must be correctly adjusted

before the forward latch adjustment.

Open the applicable fan cowl panel (Ref 71-11-02/201).

Put the modeling clay on the striker and close the fan cowl panel (Ref 71-11-02/201).

Open the applicable fan cowl panel (Ref 71-11-02/201).

(4)
Make sure the clearance between the latch bolt and striker is
0.00 - 0.01 inches (0.00 - 0.25 mm) maximum.

If the latch bolt clearance is more than the limits, loosen the locknuts and turn the latch bolt to decrease the clearance.
(a)
When you have the correct clearance, tighten the locknuts.
(b)
Safety the locknuts with a lockwire.
(6)
Close the fan cowl panel (Ref 71-11-02/201).

(7) Make sure the free play at the aft end of the latch handle is 0.00 - 0.02 inches (0.00 - 0.51 mm) maximum.

(8) With the latch trigger in the fully locked position, make sure the trigger is aligned, |0.02 inch (|0.51 mm), with the forward and aft parts of the latch.

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains three tasks. The first task is to remove and
install the CSD door latches. The second task is to remove and install
the CSD door. The third task is to adjust the CSD door.

Remove the Latch.

(1) Open the CSD access door.
(a)
Push the large end of each latch into the door.
(b)
Help the door correctly open down to the fully open position.

Remove the screws, nuts, and washers (4 locations each) that attach the latch to the door.

Remove the latch from the CSD access door.

Install the CSD door latch.

(1) Apply two layers of primer to the faying surfaces of the latch.
(a) Dry the primer for 5 minutes with a heat gun.
