CAUTION:_______INSTALL THE VCD ONLY ON THE INBOARD FAN COWL PANEL. THE
INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE FAN COWL VCD CAN CAUSE
UNSATISFACTORY AIRPLANE PERFORMANCE.
(1) Remove the used sealant from the gasket, VCD, screw heads, and
washers.
(a) Replace the gasket if it is necessary.

If it is necessary, remove the 16 screws, washers, and collars from
the fastener holes in the fan cowl panel.

(3)
Clean the mating surfaces of the VCD and fan cowl panel with solvent and wipe dry.

(4)
If the temperature of the mating surfaces is below 50°F (10°C),
use a heat gun to increase the temperature.
(a) Do not use warm air that is more than 120°F [50°C] on the structure.
(5)
Apply the vinyl coating to the mating area of the fan cowl panel.
(6)
Apply the sealant to the two sides of the gasket.

Put the gasket and VCD on the inboard fan cowl panel and align the
fastener holes.

Install the 16 countersunk screws, washers, and new collars.

Apply a bead of the sealant around the bottom of the VCD and on the collars and washers.
(a)
Apply the sealant on the heads of the screws and make a continuous surface.
(b)
Remove the unwanted sealant to get a smooth surface
(tack free time is 10 hours).
(c)
Permit the sealant to cure for 20 hours
