 the door. 4) Move the door forward or aft to get the correct clearance. 5) Tighten the screws (4 locations). 6) Drill a 1/16 inch hole through the hinge, shim, filler, and
 door at two roll pin holes, that were not used, in each
 hinge. 7) Apply primer to the roll pins. 8) Lightly hit the roll pins through the new holes in the
 hinges until they are smooth with the outer surface of the door. 9) Close the door.

Make sure the door forward edge is smooth with the outer surface of the fan cowl panel | 0.025 inch (|0.635 mm).

 (a)  
If the forward edge of the door is not in the limits, adjust the door as follows: 1) Remove the door. 2) Add or remove shims between the fillers and hinges to make


 the door smooth with the cowl panel outer surface. 3) Apply primer to all shims that do not have primer on them. 4) Install the door.

 (5)  Make sure there is no free play of the door when the latch is fully locked.
 (a)  If there is free play, adjust the latch as follows:
 1) Open the door.
 2) Look for a missing rubber pad on the latch.

 a)  If the rubber pad is missing, do these steps to replace
 the rubber pad: b) Remove the screw and washer from the latch. c) Remove any parts of the old rubber pad from the screw. d) Put a new rubber pad in the latch and install the
 washer and screw. 3) Add or remove shims between the latch plate and doubler to remove the free play.
 4)  If it is necessary to install shims, install the shims as follows: a) Apply primer to all shims that do not have primer on
 them. b) Put the shim in the correct position. c) Apply a layer of sealant (BMS 5-95) on the bottom of
 the screwheads. d) Install the screws. e) Install and tighten the collar. f) Clean the unwanted sealant from the screwhead. g) Apply fillet seal to the collar with DC 93-006 sealant.
 5)  Close the door.

 (6)  Make sure the door aft edge is smooth with the outer surface of the fan cowl panel |0.03 inch (|0.76 mm).

VORTEX CONTROL DEVICE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks. The first task removes the vortex control device (VCD). The second task installs the vortex control device (VCD). The VCD is installed on the inboard fan cowl panel of each engine.
 B.  If the inboard fan cowl panel is replaced, the VCD must be removed and installed on the replacement panel. The VCD is not interchangeable between left and right fan cowl panels. The VCD must be installed on the inboard fan cowl panel only.

 (1)  
Open the applicable fan cowl panel (Ref 71-11-02/201).

 (2)  
Remove the 16 screws, washers, and collars that attach the VCD to the inboard fan cowl panel.

 (3)  
Carefully remove the VCD and gasket from the panel.
