ENGINE VENTS AND DRAINS - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This task gives the inspection criteria for fluid leakage from the engine/strut drains and the action to stop the leakage if the leakage rates are more than the limits.
 B.  The leakage rates given in the tables are the threshold limits and the servicable limits from different engine drain sources and both limits apply to engines that are not operated and engines that are operated at all power settings.
 C.  If the leakage rate is more than the serviceable limit, a corrective action is required.
 D.  If the leakage rate is less than the threshold limit, no action is required.
 E.  If the leakage rate is more than the threshold limit, but less than the servicable limit, an engine run is recommended to determine whether the leak increases or decreases with an operational engine and to verify the leakage source.
 F.  If you find leakage, the amount of the leakage must be measured to find the appropriate action.
 G.  The drain source nomenclature in the tables is more complete than the drain nomenclature on the placards. The drain source numbers in the tables will agree with the drain numbers on the placards.

1  (FLOODING DRAIN) AFT SUMP  OIL  60 CC/HR OIL WETTED AREA: LESS THAN (20 DROPS/MIN) AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN ANY AMOUNT OR 1  ADJUST N2 IDLE SPEED TO TOP END OF TOLERANCE (AMM 71-00-00, TEST NO. 4). DO TROUBLESHOOTING FOR HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION (AMM 71-00-44/ 101).
