CAUTION: USE PRECAUTION TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE STRUT FIRE/OVERHEAT
_______ DETECTOR ELEMENTS, GENERATOR, GENERATOR COOLING DUCT, AND HYDRAULIC HOSES. RESTRICTIONS TO MOVEMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1.
ONE-HALF INCH (12.7 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN INLET COWL ATTACHMENT FLANGE AND UNDER SURFACE OF STRUT. LIMITS APPLY TO ALL VERTICAL MOVEMENT.
2.
ONE-TENTH INCH (2.54 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN AERODYNAMIC SEAL AND INLET COWL STEP APPROXIMATELY 24 INCHES (610 MM) IN LENGTH EXTENDING FROM 11:30 THROUGH 12:30 O'CLOCK POSITION. LIMITS APPLY TO VERTICAL MOVEMENT FOR FIRST INCH (25.4 MM) OF FORWARD TRAVEL FROM THE ENGINE INLET ATTACHMENT FLANGE.
3.
ONE-HALF INCH (12.7 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN INLET COWL ATTACHMENT FLANGE AND GENERATOR AT THE 8 O'CLOCK POSITION. LIMITS APPLY TO FORWARD MOVEMENT TO 0.75 INCH (19.05 MM) AND ALL SIDE MOVEMENT TO THE LEFT.
4.
ONE-HALF INCH (12.7 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN FEEDER CABLE BRACKET AND INLET COWL ATTACHMENT FLANGE. LIMITS APPLY TO ALL UPWARD AND LEFT SIDEWAYS MOVEMENT FOR FIRST 5 INCHES (127 MM) OF FORWARD TRAVEL FROM THE ENGINE INLET ATTACHMENT FLANGE.
5.
ONE-HALF INCH (12.7 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN HYDRAULIC HOSE SUPPORT BRACKET AND INLET COWL ATTACHMENT FLANGE AT 6:30 O'CLOCK POSITION. LIMITS APPLY TO LEFT SIDEWAYS AND DOWNWARD MOVEMENT FOR FIRST 6 INCHES (152 MM) OF FORWARD TRAVEL FROM THE ENGINE INLET ATTACHMENT FLANGE.

Put the inlet cowl with holes in the attachment flange aligned with the shear pins in the engine inlet attachment flange.

Attach the inlet cowl to the engine flange as follows (Fig. 405):
(a)
At all but the 12 o'clock bolt hole positions, install the
bolts, washers, and nuts (23 locations each).
NOTE: The bolts are installed with the bolt head pointed aft
____ and the washer installed between the nut and inlet cowl attachment flange.
1) Tighten the nuts to 220-410 pound-inches (25-46 newton meters).

(b) At the 12 o'clock position, install the bolt and washer with
the countersunk end of the washer pointed to the bolt head.
NOTE: The nut at the 12 o'clock position is permanently
____ attached to the engine inlet attachment flange.

Remove the caps from the TAI duct, pressure switch tube, and electrical connections for the temperature switch.

Remove the caps from the aft face of the inlet cowl lip and at the duct opening aft of the engine inlet atachment flange.
