WARNING:_______ DO NOT INSTALL THE FAN COWL PANEL DURING AN ENGINE
OPERATION BECAUSE THE FORWARD LATCHES/HINGES ARE IN THE ENGINE
INLET HAZARD AREA ZONE. IF YOU GO INTO THE HAZARD AREA, YOU
CAN GET PULLED INTO THE ENGINE WITH POSSIBLE FATAL RESULTS.
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU INSTALL THE FAN COWL PANEL IN HIGH WIND OR
GUST CONDITIONS. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE
TO EQUIPMENT.
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE FAN COWL PANEL. BECAUSE THE RIGHT
FAN COWL PANEL WEIGHS 110 POUNDS (50 KG) AND THE LEFT FAN COWL
PANEL WEIGHS 90 POUNDS (40 KG), INJURIES TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:_______ BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PUT THE FAN COWL PANEL ON THE HINGES.
DAMAGE TO THE SEAL ON THE UPPER EDGE OF THE FAN PANEL CAN
OCCUR.
(1)
Lift the fan cowl panel and put the fan cowl hinge hangars on the roll pins at the forward middle and aft hinge locations.

(2)
Move the fan cowl panel to the open position and adjust it to align the holes of the middle hinges.

(3)
Lubricate the bolt shanks with grease and install them into the holes of the middle hinges.
NOTE: Do not lubricate the bolt threads with grease.

Install the washers and nuts.
(a)
Tighten the nuts with your hand.

(5) Align the holes of the forward and aft hinges and install the bolts, bolt shanks.
NOTE: You can apply a maximum preload of 30 pounds (135 newtons) to
____ the cowl at the hinge locations when you align the forward and aft hinges.
Do not lubricate the bolt threads with grease.

(6) Install the washers and nuts.
(a) Tighten the nuts with your hand.

Tighten the nuts at all of the hinge locations.

Do the fan cowl panel latch adjustment (AMM 71-11-03/501).

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition.

CAUTION:_______INSTALL THE VCD ONLY ON THE INBOARD FAN COWL PANEL. THE
INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE FAN COWL VCD CAN CAUSE
UNSATISFACTORY AIRPLANE PERFORMANCE.
(1)
If you replaced the inboard fan cowl panel, install the VCD on the
replacement panel (AMM 71-11-08/401).

If you replaced the outboard fan cowl panel,make sure the protruding head screws are installed in the fan cowl panel fastener holes.

(3)
If the protruding head screws are not installed in the fastener
holes, do these steps:
(a)
Open the fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
(b)
Apply sealant (BMS 5-95) to the top mating surface of the washers and the bottom of the screw heads.
