Install caps on the openings at the aft face of the inlet cowl lip.

Install caps at the duct opening aft of the engine inlet attachment flange.

Remove the forward fairing (AMM 54-32-01/401).

Prepare the inlet cowl removal equipment as follows (Fig. 404):
(a)
Attach the engine strut attach fittings to the forward strut mount fittings.
(b)
Attach the boom assembly to the strut attach fittings.
(c)
Attach the tube assembly to the boom.
(d)
Attach the "A" frame to the tube assembly.
(e)
Attach the fishpole hoist to the tube assembly trolley.
(f)
Attach the inlet cowl sling to the fishpole hoist.
CAUTION: ADJUST THE SLING TO HOLD ONLY THE WEIGHT OF THE INLET
_______ COWL. MORE FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INLET COWL.
(g) Attach the sling straps to inlet cowl attach points.

Adjust the sling to remove the slack from the straps.
(i)
Make sure the sling straps are vertical.
1) If the sling straps are not in the vertical position, move the tube assembly trolley forward or aft until the sling straps are in the vertical position.
