Procedure

 (1)  Replace the rubstrip by removing the peel ply and using adhesive BMS 5-109 while equally installing the rubstrips on the inlet chord extrusion. (Fig. 405A)
 NOTE: If rubstrips are located between the inlet aft chord and the
____ strut fairing, they need to be inspected before the inlet cowl is installed. (AMM 71-11-01/601)

If not already open, open fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Do these steps to prepare the dolly for the installation (Fig. 406):

 (a)  
Make sure the engine cowling strap is tightened around the inlet cowl to hold the cowl to the dolly.

 WARNING:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE INLET COWL. BECAUSE THE INLET COWL WEIGHS 255 POUNDS (116 KG), INJURIES TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.

 (b)  
Move the dolly with the inlet cowl below the engine inlet attachment flange.

 (c)  
Use the hand jacks to lift the dolly and inlet cowl to the height of the engine inlet attachment flange.

 (d)  
Make sure the shear pins at the 3:10 and 8:50 o'clock positions on the engine inlet attachment flange are correctly installed.

 (e)  
Position the inlet cowl with the holes in the attachment flange aligned with the shear pins in the engine inlet attachment flange.

 (f)  
Level and align the inlet cowl with the hand jacks on the dolly and install the inlet cowl.

 CAUTION: USE PRECAUTION TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE STRUT FIRE/OVERHEAT
_______ DETECTOR ELEMENTS, GENERATOR, GENERATOR COOLING DUCT, AND HYDRAULIC HOSES. RESTRICTIONS TO MOVEMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS:
 1.  
ONE-HALF INCH (12.7 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN INLET COWL ATTACHMENT FLANGE AND UNDER SURFACE OF STRUT. LIMITS APPLY TO ALL VERTICAL MOVEMENT.

 2.  
ONE-TENTH INCH (2.54 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN AERODYNAMIC SEAL AND INLET COWL STEP APPROXIMATELY 24 INCHES (610 MM) IN LENGTH EXTENDING FROM 11:30 THROUGH 12:30 O'CLOCK POSITION. LIMITS APPLY TO VERTICAL MOVEMENT FOR FIRST INCH (25.4 MM) OF FORWARD TRAVEL FROM THE ENGINE INLET ATTACHMENT FLANGE.

 3.  
ONE-HALF INCH (12.7 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN INLET COWL ATTACHMENT FLANGE AND GENERATOR AT THE 8 O'CLOCK POSITION. LIMITS APPLY TO FORWARD MOVEMENT TO 0.75 INCH (19.05 MM) AND ALL SIDE MOVEMENT TO THE LEFT.

 4.  
ONE-HALF INCH (12.7 MM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN FEEDER CABLE BRACKET AND INLET COWL ATTACHMENT FLANGE. LIMITS APPLY TO ALL UPWARD AND LEFT SIDEWAYS MOVEMENT FOR FIRST 5 INCHES (127 MM) OF FORWARD TRAVEL FROM THE ENGINE INLET ATTACHMENT FLANGE.
