Turn the screwdriver handle 90 degrees clockwise to release the latches.

Open the door.

(2) Install the load test adapter (Fig. 201).
(a)
Remove the two latch screws, washers and nuts near the latch bolt (nearest to the door edge).
(b)
Attach the adapter to the door with the two cap screws and nuts supplied with the adapter. 1) Use the two holes where you removed the latch screws.

2) Tighten the nut with your fingers.

Do these steps to close the access door.
(a)
Put a screwdriver blade into the latch slots.
(b)
Turn the screwdriver handle clockwise until the latches are in the fully open position.
(c)
Close the access door.
(d)
Turn the screwdriver handle 90 degrees counterclockwise to lock the latch with the installed adapter.
(e)
Do not lock the opposite latch.

Do the latch release test as follows:
(a)
Attach a spring scale to the load test adapter.
(b)
Pull the spring scale straight out from the door.
(c)
Make a record of the force to release the latch.
(d)
Make sure the measured force is 47-65 pounds (210-290 newtons).
(e)
If the release force is not in the limits, replace the latch.
(f)
Remove the spring scale and adapter.
(g)
Install the two latch mounting screws, washers and nuts.

Do the test on the opposite latch.

Close the access door and lock the latches.
