If you see the fiberglass backing under the rubstrip, you must replace the rubstrip.

Refer to the Maintenance Manual (AMM 71-11-01/401) for the replacement of these rubstrips.

FAN COWL PANELS - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES (OPENING AND CLOSING)

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is to open the fan cowl panels. The second task is to close the fan cowl panels.
 B.  Each fan cowl panel is held open with a hold-open rod. The hold-open rod is spring-loaded in the stowed position, and has a double action lock. Two clear movements of the lock are necessary to release the hold-open rod from the extended position.
 C.  An unlock indication will be seen when the hold-open rod is released (stowed position) and will not be seen when the hold-open rod is locked (extended position).
