 1) On the load control center - right panel, P6:
 a) PILOTS BKGD LTS
 b) PILOTS STANDBY BKGD LIGHTS
 (c) On the P1 panel, rotate the BACKGROUND control from the OFF
 position to the full BRIGHT position.
 1) Make sure that the fluorescent lamps come on and get
 stronger as the control is rotated clockwise.
 (d) After three hours, do a test of the new lightshield ballast
 again to make sure that the new lightshield ballast operates
 correctly.
 (8)  Remove electrical power if it is not necessary for other tasks
 (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 AFDS FLOODLIGHT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 A.  This procedure contains two tasks:
 (1)  
The removal of the AFDS (Automatic Flight Director System) floodlight (referred to as the floodlight).

 (2)  
The installation of the AFDS floodlight.

 2.  AFDS Floodlight Removal (Fig. 401)

 A.  General
 (1)  The AFDS floodlight is installed above the AFDS MCP (Mode Control Panel) in the pilot's lightshield.
 B.  Standard Tools and Equipment
 (1)  String, ten foot length
 C.  Access
 (1)  Location Zone
 101 Control Cabin - Left
 102 Control Cabin - Right

 D.  Procedure
 S 864-030
 (1)  Prepare for the Removal:
 (a)  Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
 1)  P6 Load Control Center - Right a) AFDS FLOOD LT
 S 024-026
 (2)  Remove the floodlight:
 (a)  Loosen the screws on the AFDS MCP.
 NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the MCP to replace the
____
 floodlight.

 (b)  
Find the floodlight wires below the left side of the lightshield.

 (c)  
Disconnect the connector.

 (d)  
Attach a string to the floodlight wires.
