(a) ON SOME AIRPLANES; You make each map light come on and go off with a toggle switch adjacent to the lighting control knob.

You can change the diameter of the lighting with a knurled knob on the map light housing.

The location of a map light and its lighting control are on the same side of the flight compartment.

10. Compass Light_____________
A. The lighting for the face of the standby compass comes from a small white light inside the compass.
B. You control the operation of the compass light with a three position (DIM-OFF-ON) toggle switch that is adjacent to the compass. A resistor decreases the voltage to make the lamp become dim.
C. The 28 volts ac of electrical power from the battery bus is supplied through the a circuit breaker on the P6 panel.
11. Observer's Reading Light________________________
A. The first observer's reading light is installed in the entryway sidewall to the right of the first observer's seat.
B. ON SOME AIRPLANES; The second observer's reading light is installed to the left of the second observer's seat and above the P18 circuit breaker panel.
C. All the controls for the observer's light are on the housing of the light.

You make the light come on and go off with an electrical switch on the base of the light.

FLIGHT COMPARTMENT LIGHTING - TROUBLE SHOOTING

1. General_______
A. Trouble shooting the control cabin lighting circuits is easily accomplished since most circuits have more than one light. Comparison with other lights on the same circuit enables personnel to quickly determine whether a bulb is burned out or if a transformer or switch is faulty. Trouble shooting control cabin lighting problems which disable the entire lighting circuit is best accomplished by making voltage checks at the circuit breakers, transformers or switches. Refer to the Wiring Diagram Manual for the location of secondary circuit breakers, transformers and specific instruments or lights on a circuit.
