CARGO AND SERVICE COMPARTMENT LIGHTING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General_______
A. Lighting is supplied to each compartment that contains cargo or
equipment.
(1)
Some of these compartments are under or behind the passenger compartment.
(2)
Some of these compartments are under the flight compartment.
B. The lights are used to do work in the compartments.
(1)
There are dome lights, spotlights, and floodlights.
(2)
In each compartment, all the lights are installed on or near the ceiling.
(3)
Each light contains a incandescent lamp.
C. The 28 volts ac of electrical power for the lights comes from the ground service bus through circuit breakers on the P18 panel.

2. Cargo Compartments Lights_________________________
A. General lighting for the forward and aft cargo compartments is from the dome lights. There is also a spotlight in the upper side of the frame of each cargo compartment door.
B. The lights in each cargo compartment are operated independently.
(1) There is a electrical circuit for the forward cargo compartment lights and a circuit for the aft cargo compartment lights.
C. The lights only are on when the cargo compartment door is open and the lighting switch is set to the on position.

The lighting switch is adjacent to the forward side of the frame of the cargo compartment door.
(2)
You can set the lighting switch to the off position to make the lights go off manually.
(3)
If you close the cargo compartment door, the lights will go off automatically.
(a)
A proximity sensor on the cargo compartment door sends a signal to a module, M278, when the door is opened and when it is closed.
(b)
A relay in the module opens and closes the circuit.
1) LIGHT CIRCUIT WITHOUT A RELAY; The module controls the lights in each cargo compartment directly.
