Carefully remove the lamp.

Disconnect each electrical connector.
1) If the electrical connector on one end of the light has an end cap, remove the end cap and keep it for the new light.
(d)
Pull off the light assembly.
(e)
Push down the new light assembly in its position.
(f)
Connect each electrical connector.
1) If the electrical connector on one end of the light is not connected, then install an end cap.
(g)
Carefully install the lamp.
(h)
Close the cover screen.
E. Ballast Test

(a) Close each circuit breaker that was opened.

5. CEILING LIGHT WITHOUT A COVER SCREEN; Ceiling Light - Ballast Replacement (Fig. 201)___________________________________
A. General
(1)
Frequently a ballast can be repaired in the shop with the replacement of a fuse that is in the ballast.
(2)
Some ballasts supply electrical power to a pair of lights. When this type of ballast is defective, two adjacent lights will not come on correctly.

(1) Replace the ballast.
(a) Do one of these steps to remove electrical power from the ballast: 1) At the attendant's panel, set the switch for the ceiling
light to the off position and attach the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
2) Open each applicable circuit breaker for the ceiling light and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag. a) On the load control center panel, P18.
(b)
Carefully remove the lamp.
(c)
Remove the light.
1) Remove the retaining screws along the inboard edge of the light.

2) Move the light inboard.
3) Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the light.
(d)
Remove the ballast from the light. 1) Remove the retaining screws from the edges of the ballast. 2) Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the ballast.
(e)
Install the new ballast on the light.
1) Attach the electrical connector to the ballast.
2) Install the retaining screws.
(f)
Install the light. 1) Connect the electrical connector. 2) Move the light in its position and install the retaining
screws.
NOTE: The tab on the outboard edge of the light must
____ engage the retaining stud on the stowage bin.
(g) Carefully install the lamp.

(2) Do a test of the new ballast.
(a)

(b)
