4. Lavatory Occupied Sign or Light
_______________________________
A. There is a sign or a blue light installed on the ceiling near each lavatory. When the lavatory door is closed and locked, the sign or light comes on. This lets the passengers know when there is a person in the lavatory.
(1)
The sign or light goes off when the door is opened. This lets the passengers know that the lavatory is available.
(2)
Each incandescent lamp in the lavatory occupied sign or light operates with 28 volts dc of electrical power.

(1)
Remove electrical power from the lavatory light:
(a) Open each applicable circuit breaker and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) On the load control center, P18. 2) On the load control center, P6.
(2)
Remove the lens.
(3)
Carefully replace the lamp.

Install the lens.

D. Do a Test of the New Lamp

(1) Supply electrical power.

(2) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close each circuit breaker that was opened.
(a)
For a dome light, make sure the new lamp comes on correctly.
(b)
For an incandescent lamp in the mirror light, make sure the new lamp comes on correctly.
(c)
For a flourescent lamp in a mirror light, do these steps: 1) Close and lock the lavatory door.
a) Make sure the new lamp comes on correctly. 2) Open the door.
(d)
For a "lavatory" sign, make sure the new lamp comes on correctly.
(e)
For an "occupied" sign or light, do these steps: 1) Close the door of the lavatory.
a) Make sure the new lamp comes on correctly. 2) Open the door.
