EXTERIOR LIGHTING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______
A. The exterior lights are the lights installed on the outer side of the airplane.
(1)
Some of the lights make the airplane more easily seen.
(2)
Some of the lights supply lighting to the areas around the airplane.
(3)
Some of the lights supply lighting to the external surfaces of the airplane.
B. All the exterior lights are controlled by switches on the forward edge of
the overhead panel, P5.Wing Scanning Lights
____________________
A. The wing scanning lights supply lighting to the the leading edge of the wing.
B. These lights are installed on each side of the fuselage in a location
that is forward of each wing.Landing Lights
______________
A. The landing lights supply lighting to the runway.
B. An inboard landing light is installed in the leading edge of each wing near the fuselage.
C. An outboard landing light is installed in each outboard trailing edge
flap fairing.Runway Turnoff Lights

A. The runway turnoff lights supply lighting to the area in front of and to the side of the airplane.
B. A runway turnoff light is installed adjacent to each inboard landing
light.Nose Gear Taxi Light

A. The nose gear taxi light supplies lighting to the area in the direction the nose wheels are pointed.
B. This light is installed on the nose gear strut and turns with the nose
wheels.Steady Position (Navigation) Lights

A. The steady position lights make the airplane more easily seen.
B. These lights are installed on each wingtip. One light points aft and is white. The other lights point outboard and are red on the left wingtip and green on the right wingtip.
