RUNWAY TURNOFF LIGHTS - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1)
Runway Turnoff Light - Adjustment with a Light Aligner
(2)
Runway Turnoff Light - Adjustment with a Target
B. Each runway turnoff light is adjacent to a inboard landing light. The two lights are behind one lens.
C. The runway turnoff lights are in a fuel vapor area. Each lamp, electrical connection, and lens has a seal to stop all fuel fumes and water.
D. The ground must be level below and in front of the airplane.

WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE LEADING EDGE FLAP AND SLAT LOCKS CORRECTLY. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Remove the lens of the inboard landing and runway turnoff lights (AMM 33-42-21/401).

(3) S 865-015Make sure the airplane and the test area are on level ground.
(4) S 865-008Make sure the airplane is approximately level (AMM 08-10-00/201).
(5) S 945-004Set the light aligner in its position (Fig. 502). (a) Measure the height of the light from the ground. (b) Use the height of the light to adjust the height of the light aligner (Fig. 502).
(6) S 865-005Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(7) S 825-006Adjust the light.
CAUTION:_______ DO NOT MAKE THE LIGHTS COME ON FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES. AFTER YOU MAKE THE LIGHTS COME ON, MAKE THE LIGHTS GO OFF FOR AN EQUAL TIME. BECAUSE OF THE HEAT, THE CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE LIGHTS CAN DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE LAMPS.
(a) (b) At the overhead panel, P5, set the switch for the runway turnoff light to the on position.Turn the adjustment screws of the light until the indicators on the light aligner change colors from yellow to black.
NOTE:____ The indicator in the center of the light aligner will stay yellow. All the other indicators must become black at the same time.
