FASTEN SEAT BELT Signs

A. The FASTEN SEAT BELT signs tell the passengers and attendants when to put on their seat belts.
(1)
There is a sign in each Passenger Service Unit (PSU) and attendant's station.
(2)
The switch for these signs is on the P5 panel.
(a) When the pilot sets this switch to the on position, the signs come on.

(b) When the switch is set to the automatic position, these signs come on automatically during takeoffs and landings.

The incandescent lamps in each FASTEN SEAT BELT sign operate with the 28 volts ac of electrical power from the No.1 transfer bus.
(a) With the switch set to the automatic position, the signs come on when the landing gear lever or the trailing edge flaps are in the down position.
(4)
When the FASTEN SEAT BELT signs come on, the 28 volts dc also is supplied to the amplifier of the passenger address system. The passenger address system makes a chime sound.
4. RETURN TO SEAT Signs____________________
A. There is a RETURN TO SEAT sign in each lavatory.
B. These signs come on when the FASTEN SEAT BELTS signs come on.

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains five tasks for the passenger signs:
(1)
The replacement of a lamp in a RETURN TO SEAT sign (refered to as a sign)
(2)
The replacement of a lamp in a NO SMOKING/FASTEN SEAT BELT sign (refered to as a sign)
(3)
An operational test of the passenger signs.

(1) Identify the lamp to be replaced.
(a)
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(b)
At the overhead panel, P5, set the FASTEN BELTS switch to the on position.
(c)
Examine the sign and identify each lamp that does not come on correctly.
(d)
Do one of these steps to remove electrical power from the sign: 1) Set the switch to the off position and attach the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
2) Open each applicable circuit breaker and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: a) On the load control center panel, P18.

(2) RUMBOLD LAVATORIES; Replace the lamp.
(a) Release the latch and lower the cover of the towel holder.
