 (d)  
Connect the test-pulse output lead (blue lead) of the test set to the X1 terminal of the lightning protector.

 (e)  
Connect the ground lead of the test set (gray lead) to the X2 terminal of the lightning protector.

 (f)  
Set the switch on the test set to RESET.

 (g)  
Turn the voltage control knob on the test set fully
 counterclockwise.

 (h)  
Set the polarity switch on the test set to POSITIVE.

 (8)  
Supply electrical power to the AC Buses (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Do a test of the lightning protectors.

 (a)  
Set the switch on the test set to TEST.

 (b)  Make sure the OUTPUT ENERGIZED light on the test set comes on.
 (c)  Turn the control knob on the test set clockwise slowly (so that
 the indicator needle shows an increase of less than 30 volts
 per second), until the indicator needle gets near the green
 band.
 (d)  Turn the control knob on the test set clockwise more slowly (so
 that the indicator needle shows an increase of less than 15
 volts per second), until the indicator light goes out.
 NOTE: The lightning protector starts to operate when the____
 light goes out.
 (e)  Make sure the lightning protector starts to operate between 250
 and 270 volts.
 (f)  Set the switch on the test set to RESET.
 (g)  Set the polarity switch on the test set to NEGATIVE.
 (h)  Set the switch on the test set to TEST.
 (i)  Make sure the OUTPUT ENERGIZED light on the test set comes on.
 (j)  Turn the control knob on the test set clockwise slowly (so that
 the indicator needle shows an increase of less than 30 volts
 per second), until the indicator needle gets near the green
 band.
 (k)  Turn the control knob on the test set clockwise more slowly (so
 that the indicator needle shows an increase of less than 15
 volts per second), until the indicator light goes out.
 NOTE: When the light goes out, the lightning protector has____
 started to operate.
 (l)  Make sure the lightning protector starts to operate between 250
 and 270 volts.

 Disconnect the test unit from the lighting protector as follows:

 (a)  
Disconnect the ground lead of the test set (gray lead) from the X2 terminal of the lightning protector.

 (b)  
Disconnect the test-pulse output lead (blue lead) of the test set from the X1 terminal of the lightning protector.

 Connect the test unit leads to the next lightning protector as follows:

 (a)  
Connect the ground lead of the test set (gray lead) from the X2 terminal of the lightning protector.

 (b)  
Connect the test-pulse output lead (blue lead) of the test set from the X1 terminal of the lightning protector.
