CAUTION:_______ DO NOT HOLD THE HEAT EXCHANGER AND VALVE ASSEMBLY BY THE INLET
COLLAR. THE INLET COLLAR IS NOT A STRUCTURAL PART OF THE VALVE
HOUSING. THE INLET COLLAR CAN BREAK AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE
HEAT EXCHANGER AND VALVE ASSEMBLY.

Remove the heat exchanger (23) and valve (6) assembly from the engine.

Remove the packing (8 and 22) from the oil-out tube (21) and the oil-in adapter (10).

Install a cover on all of the tubes and openings in the heat exchanger assembly.

Remove the two packings (5) from the front of the inlet collars.
(a)
Examine the packings for damage.
(b)
Discard the packing(s) if they are damaged.
NOTE: Keep the packings that are not damaged for the
____ subsequent installation.

Do these steps to disconnect the heat exchanger valve (6) from the heat exchanger (23):
(a)
Put the heat exchanger (23) and the valve (6) on a work bench.
(b)
ENGINES WITHOUT SB PW4ENG 24-4; Remove the two bolts (45 and 50), the screw (49), and the three nuts (48) from the five clamps (47 and 51).
NOTE: The clamps hold the tubes to the heat exchanger (23) and
____ valve (6) assembly.

ENGINES WITH SB PW4ENG 24-4;
Remove the bolt (45), the screw (49), and the two nuts (48)
from the clamps (47).
NOTE: The clamps hold the tubes to the heat exchanger (23) and
____ valve (6) assembly.
ENGINES WITHOUT SB PW4ENG 79-49;
Do these steps:
1) Remove the jamnut (31) that holds the servo fuel return tube (34) to the heat exchanger (23).
2) Remove the jamnut (31) that holds the servo fuel supply tube (33) to the heat exchanger (23).
3) Remove the jamnut (30) that holds the drain tube (32) to the heat exchanger (23).
ENGINES WITH SB PW4ENG 79-49;
Do these steps:
1) Remove the jamnut (31) and washer (54) that holds the servo fuel return tube (34) to the heat exchanger (23).
2) Remove the jamnut (31) and washer (54) that holds the servo fuel supply tube (33) to the heat exchanger (23).
3) Remove the jamnut (31) and washer (54) that holds the drain tube (32) to the heat exchanger (23). Remove the plate (55).
Remove the bolt (29) that holds the cable shield (28) to the
valve drain tube (32).
Remove the 18 bolts (39), the nuts (41), and the washers (40)
from the mating flange of the valve (6) and the heat
exchanger (23).
Remove the valve (6) from the heat exchanger (23).
Do these steps if you will install a new valve (6):
1) Disconnect the tube coupling nut (38) on the servo fuel return tube (34). a) Remove the tube (34).
2) Disconnect the tube coupling nut (37) on the servo fuel supply tube (33). a) Remove the tube (33).
3) Disconnect the tube coupling nut (25) on the valve drain tube (32). a) Remove the tube (32).
4) Remove the adapter (36) from the servo fuel supply port and discard the packing (35).
5) Remove the adapter (36) from the servo fuel return port and discard the packing (35).
6) Remove the adapter (26) from the valve drain port and discard the packing (27).
7) ENGINES WITH SB PW4ENG 24-4; Remove the plug (53) from the valve (6) and discard the packing (52).
