To remove the air exhaust duct (3) from APU generator, G2 (11), do these steps:
(a)
Remove the screws (18) that hold the wire bundle clamps to the exhaust duct extension (20).
(b)
Remove the screws (23), washers (22) and nuts (21) from the clamp (24).
(c)
Loosen the clamp (15) that holds the exhaust duct
extension (20) to the air exhaust duct (3).
(d)
Remove the exhaust duct extension (20) from the air exhaust duct (3).
(e)
Remove the nut (27) and spacer (26) from the air exhaust duct clamp.
(f)
Remove the air exhaust duct (3).

Move the cooling-fan exit manifold (8).
(a)
Loosen the clamp (7) that attaches the air inlet duct (6) to the cooling-fan exit manifold (8).
(b)
Move the clamp (7) and the manifold (8) away from the air inlet duct (6) to make sure you can remove the generator (2 or 11).

Put the ground support equipment in its position.
(a)
Install the telescoping spreader bar and the fishpole hoist.
(b)
Connect the sling to the applicable generator (2 or 11).

(13) Remove the generator (2 or 11).
CAUTION:_______DO NOT LIFT THE GENERATOR MORE THAN IT IS NECESSARY. IF YOU LIFT THE GENERATOR TOO HIGH OR YOU DO NOT HOLD IT, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GENERATOR.
(a)
Lift the generator (2 or 11) with the hoist to release the weight of the generator from the QAD ring.
(b)
Loosen the tension bolt on the QAD ring to loosen the generator (2 or 11).
(c)
Adjust the hoist adapter to hold the full weight of the generator (2 or 11).
NOTE: No weight is on the QAD ring or the generator shaft.

(d) Loosen the QAD ring fully.

CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU MOVE THE GENERATOR IN A STRAIGHT LINE. IF THE DRIVE SHAFT BINDS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INPUT SEAL.
(e)
Move the generator (2 or 11) forward in a straight line to be clear of all the APU components.
(f)
Lower the generator from the fishpole hoist to a platform.
(g)
Discard the O-ring from the generator drive shaft.

Remove the generator sling, the fishpole hoist, and the spreader bar, if they are not necessary.

Remove the air inlet duct (6) from the generator (2 or 11), if you will install a new generator.
CAUTION: ONLY REMOVE THE FOUR BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE AIR INLET DUCT
_______ TO THE GENERATOR. IF YOU REMOVE MORE THAN FOUR BOLTS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GENERATOR.
(a)
Remove the four screws (4) and washers (5) that attach the air inlet duct (6) to the generator (2 or 11).
(b)
Remove the duct (6).
NOTE: Keep the duct for the installation task.

(c)
Install the four washers (5) and screws (4) on the generator.
(d)
Tighten the screws (4) with your hand.
