 CAUTION: IF YOU PUT THE AIRPLANE IN THE AIR MODE WITH EXTERNAL POWER
_______ SUPPLIED, YOU MUST DO THE STEPS TO PREPARE THE SAFETY SENSITIVE SYSTEMS FOR AIR MODE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CANNOT SHUT OFF ELECTRICAL POWER FROM THE FLIGHT COMPARTMENT DURING AIR MODE.
 (1)  Refer to the task to prepare the Safety Sensitive Systems for Air Mode (AMM 32-09-02/201), if you will put the airplane in the air mode.
 NOTE: Look at the instructions for the electrical power system in
____ the Prepare for Air Mode Instructions table.

Open door 118A to get access to the external power receptacles on the P36 panel.

Examine the external power supply cord and the airplane external power supply receptacle before you connect the external power supply to the receptacle. If you find excessive arc erosion, corrosion and heat damage or discoloration to the pins or receptacles, repair the problems that you find (AMM 24-41-03/401).

 THE POWER CABLES INTO THE AIRPLANE RECEPTACLES.  ELECTRICAL
 ARCS CAN CAUSE INJURIES.

 (4)  Connect the power cables to the external power receptacles No. 1 (D51) and No. 2 (D52) on panel P36.
 NOTE: If only one external power source is available, connect
____ the power cable to receptacle No. 1 (D51).

Apply electrical power to the external power cables.

 3. Apply External Power to the Ground Handling Bus (Fig. 201)

 A. General
 (1)  The ac ground handling bus is energized automatically when the external power No. 1 or the APU No. 1 are on. Before the ground handling bus is energized, BCU No. 1 makes sure that the available power is of good quality. The BCU then energizes the ground handling relays and the ground handling bus is on.
