 SCAVENGE FILTER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks. One task is the removal of the scavenge filter for the IDG. The other task is the installation of the filter.
 B.  The scavenge filter is installed on the aft end of the IDG case.
 C.  Open the left thrust reverser half to get access to the scavenge filter.
 D.  You can not use the filter element again after you remove it. You must always install a new filter element.

 (1)  
Container - 5 U.S. gallon (20 liter) capacity, suitable to collect oil drainage from IDG

 (2)
Examine the red button on the pressure differential indicator.

 (a)  
If the red button extends from the pressure differential indicator, do the DPI extension check (AMM 24-11-01/601).

Release the pressure from the IDG oil system (Ref 24-11-00/201).

 (4)  
Remove the filter cover.

 (a)  
Put a container below the IDG to collect oil from the filter cavity.

 WARNING:_______REMOVE THE FILTER COVER CAREFULLY. WEAR GOGGLES, INSULATED GLOVES, AND OTHER PROTECTIVE GEAR. HOT OIL CAN FLOW FROM THE SCAVENGE FILTER WHEN YOU REMOVE THE FILTER COVER. HOT OIL CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.

 (b)  
Remove the filter cover.

 (c)  
Drain the oil from the filter cavity into the container.

 (d)  
Remove and discard the O-ring from the filter cover.
