D. Procedure

(1)
Install the filter element.
(a)
Lubricate the new O-ring that was supplied with the new filter element with oil.
(b)
Install the O-ring on the filter element.
(c)
Install the filter element into the filter cavity on the IDG.
S 434-024
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE FILTER IS AGAINST THE BOTTOM OF THE FILTER CAVITY
_______ BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE FILTER COVER. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE FILTER COVER TO PUSH THE FILTER IN THE CAVITY. DAMAGE TO THE FILTER CAN OCCUR.

Install the filter cover.
(a)
Lubricate a new O-ring for the filter cover with oil.
(b)
Install the O-ring on the filter cover.
(c)
Install the filter cover on the filter cavity.
(d)
Tighten the cover to 156-180 pound-inches (17.6-20.3 N.m).
(e)
Install a lockwire on the filter cover.
(f)
Check the IDG low oil level indicator.
1) If the low oil level is shown, service the IDG (AMM 12-13-07/301).
NOTE: If the low oil level indicator is missing, damaged
____ hard to read, service the IDG (AMM 12-13-07/301).
2) If the low oil level is not shown, do the steps to check for oil leaks:
(g) Do one of the following steps to check for oil leaks: 1) Dry motor the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201). 2) Run the engine at ground idle to do a check for leaks
(Ref 71-00-00/201).
NOTE: The engine ground idle run is optional to the engine
____ dry motoring procedure.
3) Stop for five minutes while the oil level becomes stable. 4) Do a check for oil leaks at the IDG.

Fill the IDG with oil (Ref 12-13-07/301).

Close the left thrust reverser half (Ref 78-31-00/201).

IDG QUICK ATTACH-DETACH (QAD) RING - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure has two tasks. One task is the removal of the quick attach-detach (QAD) ring for the integrated drive generator (IDG). The other task is the installation of the QAD ring.
B. The IDG QAD ring is installed on the aft face of the main gearbox at the 7 o'clock position.
C. You must remove the IDG before you remove the QAD ring.
