 4.  Intergrated Drive Generator oil cooling system flushing (Scavenge filter is___________________________________________________________________________ not Damaged)_____________
 A.  General
 (1)  
This flushing procedure is for an in-service IDG external oil cooling system.

 (2)  
The flushing procedure is not a replacement for the external oil system maintenance program.

 (a)  
The oil cooler and the oil lines are cleaned in an overhaul facility when the engine is removed for overhaul.

 B.  
Equipment

 (1)  
IDG oil overflow drain hose with outlet adapter,
 Ozone OMP2505-3 or Risbridger tool DRG 1827.


 (2)  
Container - 2 gallon capacity

 (3)  
Nitrogen - gas (minimum of 239 cubic feet bottle) and regulator from 20 - 250 psig.

 E.  
Prepare for the IDG external oil cooling circuit flushing.

 (1)  
Open the left thrust reverser half (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Remove pressure from the IDG cooling system as follows:

 (a)  
If the IDG has a Push-to-Vent valve, push the valve until the internal pressure is released.

 (b)  If the IDG does not have a Push-to-Vent valve, do the following: 1) Put a container under the IDG to catch the oil. 2) Remove the cover from the overflow drain coupling (pressure
 oiler) on the IDG oil fill/drain panel. 3) Put the end of the drain hose in the container.
 WARNING:_______USE CARE WHEN YOU CONNECT THE DRAIN HOSE. PRESSURE IN THE IDG CAN CAUSE HOT OIL TO COME OUT OF THE COUPLING. HOT OIL CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.
 4)  Connect the oil-drain hose to the overflow drain coupling on the IDG oil/drain panel. Allow the surplus oil to drain into the container.
 5) Remove the oil-drain hose. 6) Install the cover on the overflow drain coupling (pressure oiler).
 F.  Procedure
 S 222-095
 (1)  
Do these steps:

 (a)  
Remove the IDG oil IN and OUT oil lines.

 (b)  
Put the container under the oil lines. Allow the oil to drain into the container.


 WARNING: USE A REGULATOR ON THE NITROGEN BOTTLE TO FLUSH THE IDG
_______ EXTERNAL OIL COOLING CIRCUIT. AN UNREGULATED NITROGEN BOTTLE USED AS A PRESSURE SOURCE CAN CAUSE INJURIES AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (c)  Attach the nitrogen bottle to the IDG oil IN line. Place the IDG oil OUT line into and empty container.
 NOTE: Use a full bottle of nitrogen for this procedure.
