Do these steps to provide a clean IDG external oil cooling system:

 (a)  
Remove the contaminated fuel/oil heat exchanger (AMM 79-21-01/401).

 (b)  
Remove the contaminated air/oil heat exchanger (AMM 24-11-14/401).

 (c)  
Replace or clean all the tubes in the IDG cooling system that connect the heat exchangers and the coolers to the IDG.

 (d)  
Install a new (clean) fuel/oil cooler (AMM 79-21-01/401).

 (e)  
Install a new (clean) air/oil heat exchanger (AMM 24-11-14/401).

 (f)  
Install a new IDG (AMM 24-11-01/401).

 (1)  
Container - 2 U.S. gallon (8 liter) capacity, suitable to collect oil drainage from IDG

Overflow drain tool - Risbridger 2315, W & J Risbridger Ltd. Blechingley, NR. Redhill, Surrey RH1 4LN, England

Hydrometer

Procedure


 S 216-008
 (1)  
Do a check of the IDG oil level.

 (a)  
Clean the oil level indicator, if it is necessary.

 (b)  
Look into the oil level indicator and align the four marks in a straight line.

 (c)  
Make sure a bright silver circle does not show in the indicator (IDG is full).

 (d)  
If the IDG has a PUSH-TO-VENT button push to button to release the internal IDG Pressure.

 (e)  
Make sure the IDG service fitting covers are not leaking.

 1)  If the covers are leaking, do the examine the IDG pressure oiler (service fitting) and pressure cap task.

 (f)  
Remove the cover from the overflow drain coupling on the IDG.

 (g)  
Put the free end of the drain hose into a container.

 WARNING: WHEN YOU CONNECT THE OUTLET ADAPTER TO THE OVERFLOW DRAIN
_______ COUPLING, USE A RAG AROUND THE FITTING. THIS WILL PREVENT A SPRAY CAUSED BY PRESSURE IN THE IDG CASE. HOT OIL CAN CAUSE INJURIES.
 (h)  Connect the adapter and the oil drain hose to the overflow drain on the IDG.
 NOTE: When you connect the adapter to the coupling, it is
____
 usual for some oil to drain.

 (i)  
If more than 1 pint (1/2 liter) is removed from the IDG, do the examine IDG oil task (AMM 24-11-01/601).

 (j)  
If the oil removed from the IDG is less than 1 pint (1/2 liter), service the IDG (AMM 12-13-07/301).

 (k)  
If the oil level is low (silver circle appears), fill the IDG with oil (AMM 12-13-07/301).
