CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THAT YOU APPLY ONLY SUFFICIENT PRESSURE WITH THE
LIFT FIXTURE TO HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE IDG. TOO MUCH PRESSURE
ON THE IDG OR FAILURE TO HOLD THE IDG CORRECTLY CAN CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE INPUT SEAL.

Adjust the hoist adapter to remove most of the weight of the IDG (1) from the QAD ring (46).

Loosen the tension bolt on the QAD ring (46).

Adjust the hoist adapter to hold the total weight of IDG (1).
(a)
This will remove the weight of the IDG from the QAD ring (46) and the IDG input shaft.

(18) Loosen the tension bolt on the QAD ring (46) until the alignment marks on the QAD ring and the adapter plate align.
NOTE: When you align the marks, the clamp lugs disengage and the
____ QAD ring is open.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT LET THE IDG INPUT SHAFT HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE IDG. TOO MUCH WEIGHT ON THE INPUT SHAFT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEAL ON THE INPUT SHAFT.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU MOVE THE IDG IN A STRAIGHT LINE. TOO MUCH WEIGHT ON THE INPUT SHAFT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEAL ON THE INPUT SHAFT.
(19) Pull the hoist adapter (straight) out, to remove IDG (1) from the main gearbox on the engine.
NOTE: If the QAD ring turns off the alignment marks on the adapter
____ plate, you cannot remove the IDG. If it is necessary, adjust the tension bolt to keep the marks aligned.

(21) To install a new IDG (1), do these steps: (a) Disconnect the elbow (26) that holds the pressure fill tube (25) to the union (24).
NOTE:____ Do not discard the parts unless the instructions tell you to discard them. You will use the parts you keep in the subsequent installation.
(b) (c) (d) Disconnect the elbow (26) that holds the pressure fill tube (25) to the pressure fill coupling (40). 1) Remove the pressure fill tube.Remove the pressure fill union (24) from the IDG (1). 1) Discard the O-ring (23).Disconnect the elbow (31) that connects the overflow drain tube (32) to the union (30).

Disconnect the elbow (31) that connects the overflow drain tube (32) to the overflow drain tube coupling (37). 1) Remove the overflow drain tube.
(f)
Remove the overflow drain union (30) from the IDG (1). 1) Discard the O-ring (29).
(g)
Install a cover in the pressure fill port and the overflow drain port.
(h)
Remove the nuts (35) and the washers (36) that hold the mounting bracket (43) for the pressure fill coupling (40) and the overflow drain coupling (37).
