(4) Install new adhesive tape (BMS 5-149) to the insulation as shown in Figure 803.
(a) Make sure the adhesive tape overlaps all the edges and seams of the insulation by a minimum of 1-inch.

E. Cuts or Tears in Insulation (Repair Method 2)

Use the solvent and a wiping cloth to clean the surface of the insulation around the damaged area.

Apply a minimum 2-inch wide patch of adhesive tape (BMS 5-149) to completely cover the damaged area on the insulation.
(a) Make sure to apply a large enough patch to assure full coverage of the damaged area with a minimum 1/2-inch overlap.

(4) Re-install the duct (if removed).
F. Insulation Replacement (Repair Method 3)

Remove the duct to permit removal of the insulation.
(2)
Remove all tape and existing insulation from the duct.

Do these steps to install a new section of Polyimide foam
insulation (BMS 8-300) around the duct:

Use the solvent and a wiping cloth to clean the outer surface of the insulation.
(b)
Wrap the insulation around the duct.
(c)
Install strips of 2-inch wide adhesive tape to the edges and seams of the insulation as shown in Figure 803 to hold it to the duct.
(d)
Make sure the adhesive tape overlaps all the edges and seams of the insulation by a minimum of 1-inch.

(4) Re-install the duct.
