FLIGHT COMPARTMENT CONDITIONED AIR DISTRIBUTION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
___________________________________________________________________________
General (Fig. 1)
_______
 A.  Conditioned air for delivery to the flight compartment is ported from the bottom of the forward LH riser. Trim air is added just downstream of the port, to the duct carrying the air to the flight compartment. Temperature of the conditioned air is determined by the zone temperature control system, 21-61-00.
 B.  Most conditioned air leaves the flight deck through air return grills and leakage through interior panels and joins the air leaving the main deck compartment to eventually leave the airplane through the aft outflow valves and forward overboard valve. A small portion of air is drawn from the flight deck by the equipment cooling exhaust ducts.
 C.  The flight compartment distribution ducts route the conditioned air to the compartment gaspers, floor and ceiling diffusers and window nozzles.
 D.  An air shutoff valve is installed in the left and right branch ducts to control front windshield air. The left and right branch ducts also include an air heater to provide shoulder heat to the flight crew (Ref 21-42-00).
Windshield Air Shutoff Valve
____________________________
 A.  The windshield air shutoff valve is a butterfly-type valve actuated by a dual coil latching solenoid. The valve solenoids are powered by 28 volts dc.
 B.  The valve has a manual override, which also shows the position of the
 valve.
Flight Deck Shoulder Air Outlet Valve

_____________________________________
 A.  The flight deck shoulder air outlet valve is a manually operated valve
for pilots to control the airflow from the heaters to the flight deck.

 B.  The valve is located at station 325, WL 320, 2 feet from the flight deck
