(4) Remove the cotter pin, nut and washer from the stepped bolt.
NOTE: Outflow valve may be in any position except stalled closed.
____ If stalled closed, stepped bolt cannot be removed.

(a) Keep the shims, washers and nuts.

E. Procedure
S 424-013
(1) Install the aft door on valve frame with one thin aluminum alloy washer on each side of the spherical bearings, and hinge bolts inserted loosely.
(a) Adjust the door so that gaps between the frame and the door are equal.

(2) Add the solid shims to the outboard sides of the hinge spherical bearings, between washers and door, to obtain a clearance of 0.02 to
0.03 inch (0.5 to 0.76 mm) between shims and door at each end.

Install the nuts and tighten to 10 to 15 inch-pounds (1.1 to 1.7 Newton-meters) above running torque.

Install the cotter pins.

Install the forward door as shown in steps 1 thru 3.

Put the stepped actuator rod bolt through door and actuator rod with washer under head and shims on outboard side of actuator connecting rod to restrict side play of actuator rod to 0.002 inch (0.05 mm) maximum.
