 PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has instructions to do a test of the positive pressure relief valves. The remote ambient test does a check of the normal pressure relief system. The integral ambient test does a check of the back-up pressure relief system.
 B.  There are two different test fixtures which can be used for this test. Do the procedure that uses the test fixture that you have.

 (1)  This test is a calibration check of the positive pressure relief valves.

 (1)  GS13963-1, Valve Test Fixture Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks, Connecticut

Vacuum Source - 0-20 inches mercury (absolute)

 (2)  
Vacuum Gage - 0-10 psi with accuracy of | 0.15 psi

 H.  Remote Ambient Test
 NOTE: If the valve does not open at the pressure specified for the
____ Remote Ambient Test, remove the valve (AMM 21-32-01/401) and calibrate (CMM 21-32-01).
 S 485-003
 (1)  Install the test equipment as shown in Figure 501, detail A.
 (a)  Attach the remote port adapter to the skin so that the center cup is on the remote sensing port.
 NOTE: The remote ambient port is the perforated opening in the
____
 airplane skin.

 (b)  
Apply lubricant to the O-ring on the probe end of the discharge port adapter.

 (c)  
Open the valve door and install the probe of the discharge port adapter into the discharge port.

 (d)  
Connect the remote port adapter to the discharge port adapter with the 10 foot (3 meter) hose assembly.

 (e)  
Connect a regulated vacuum source to the discharge port adapter.

 (2)  Do the Test:
 (a)  Slowly decrease the system pressure at a rate of not more than
 0.75 in. Hg/min until the valve opens.
 (b)  
Make sure the valve opens at a differential pressure of 9.25 (+0.15/-0.15) psi (63.8 |1 kPa).

 (c)  
If the valve opens at more than 9.35 psi (64.5 kPa), make sure there are no loose fittings on the remote ambient sense tubing or the test equipment tubing.

 (d)  
With the valve open, do the steps that follow:

 1)  Make sure the applicable status message UPR PRESS RELIEF or LWR PRESS RELIEF is shown on the lower EICAS screen after 5 seconds.
