Apply resin to one side of the two pieces of the Fiberglass cloth.

Wind one piece of the Fiberglass cloth around each duct joint a minimum of four times.


 NOTE: Make sure the resin on the Fiberglass cloth is in contact

 with the duct.

 (5)  Put a piece of plastic sheet on the joint and press on it wit h a squeegee or with your hand.
 NOTE: Make the cloth smooth from the center to the edges of the
____ cloth to remove any bubbles or wrinkles and to remove unwanted resin.

 (6)  Let the resin cure for 24 hours at room temperature.

 (7)  Clean any unwanted resin from the joint area with a wiping cloth and solvent.
 F. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

If insulation was removed from the duct joint, install new
 insulation.

Install the panels or other airplane structure removed to gain access to the duct joint.

FOR INSULATION DAMAGE APPLY A MINIMUM 2-INCH X 2-INCH PATCH OF PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPE TO THE DAMAGED AREA. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULL COVERAGE OF THE DAMAGED OR TORN AREA WITH NO LESS THAN 1/2-INCH OVERLAP.

 11. Polyimide Foam Insulation Duct Repair (Fig. 803)

 A. General
 (1)  
This procedure has instructions to repair those air conditioning ducts insulated with Polyimide foam insulation (BMS 8-300). The Polyimide foam insulation has a flame-retardant "Hypalon" covering that is bonded to its outer surface and is distinguished by it's brown color appearance. The Polyimide foam insulation is wrapped around the duct and held in place with an adhesive tape.

 (2)  
This procedure has these repair instructions:

 (a)  
Replacement of loose or old tape (Repair Method 1)

 (b)  
Repair of cuts or tears in the "Hypalon" covering and Polyimide foam insulation (Repair Method 2)

 (c)  
Replacement of the Polyimide foam insulation (Repair Method 3)

Insulation - Polyimide Foam (BMS 8-300)

Tape - Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (BMS5-149, Type XI, Class 1, Grade C) (AMM 20-30-04/201)

Solvent - B01011, Series 91 - commercially available
 (AMM 20-30-91/201)


 (4)  
Wiping cloth, lint free - commercially available
