TROUBLE  PROBABLE CAUSE  REMEDY 
Door sags when door is open Grinding or scraping noises Door Warning Light on with door closed between torque tubes, cranks, splices, and fittings Excessive movement Hard spots and mechanism binding when operating door handle when door is being closed No snubbing action Door Warning Light is not on when door is open  Check for loose, worn or Door latching rollers may not be engaging roller stop Lack of lubrication or cor-linkage broken or mal-Misadjusted or failed door Failed or malfunctioning circuit cards A6 and/or A7 in Miscellaneous Switching damaged parts rosion in moving components functioning sensor Module M278 fittings during last inch of travel Door snubber or snubber Failure of K1 or K2 relays On doors with a sheave, counterbalance needs adjustment Replace worn or defective Adjust or replace door sensor (Ref 52-71-00, A/T) Replace damaged components parts Adjust door latch roller stop 52-31-00, R/I) fittings and/or door (Ref Lubricate components (Ref 12-25-31) or replace parts Replace faulty circuit card A6 or A7 Replace K1 or K2 relays Adjust counterbalance adjustment fitting (Ref 58-31-12, R/I)

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains the trouble-shooting for the cargo doors. It has a trouble-shooting chart that contains the procedures for specified failures.
 B.  It also has fault isolation tips to use to trouble-shoot the cargo doors.
 2.  Fault Isolation Tips (AIRPLANES WITH A COUNTERBALANCE MECHANISM)____________________
 A. Unsatisfactory lubrication or improper assembly of the counterbalance maechanism can cause the cargo door to operate roughly or noisily.
 B.  If the cargo door operates roughly or noisily, do the steps that follow:
 (1)  
Lubricate the bearing in the roller of the counterbalance mechanism (AMM 12-25-31/301).

 (2)  
See that the springs in the cartridge assembly of the counterbalance mechanism are installed correctly.

 (a)  
Remove the lining from the counterbalance mechanism.

 (b)  
Look at the springs in the counterbalance mechanism while you move the door slowly.


 NOTE: An inspection mirror will help do this.

 (c)  See that the springs in the mechanism move in a straight line and do not bind on the center pin.
 NOTE: If the springs are not installed 120 degrees apart
____ they can move incorrectly and bind on the center pin. It will be necessary to remove the counterbalance assembly and re-install the springs to make them operate correctly.

 CARGO COMPARTMENT DOORS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1. General
_______
 A. This procedure has these tasks:
 (1)  
Removal of the cargo door

 (2)  
Installation of the cargo door

 (3)  
Installation of a new cargo door (not the door you removed).

 B.
The forward and aft cargo compartment doors are equivalent.

Door Support Brace - 2 x 4 inch wood painted red of applicable length to keep the door in the open position
