Remove the escape slide assembly (Ref 25-61-35/201).

Remove the door lining (Ref 52-11-31/401).

Attach a 90-pound weight to the door approximately in the middle of the bottom half of the door.

You may use the rigging simulator tool, C52006-1.

Do a check of the clearance between the latch rollers and the latch fittings.
(a)
Use clay to measure the latch roller clearances. 1) Put clay in the latch fitting. 2) Put a layer of Vaseline on the latch roller. 3) Close and latch the door.

4) Open the door. 5) Measure the depth of the clay to find the latch roller clearance.
(b)
Make sure the clearance between the bottom of the latch roller and the latch fitting is correct (Fig. 501, View C).
(c)
If the clearance is not correct, do these steps at the top and bottom latch torque tubes (5): 1) If the latch roller overcenter tool is available, use it to
set the latch roller overcenter. a) Disconnect the control rods (4) from the top and bottom latch torque tubes (5) at their crank (4). 2) If the tool is not available, set the latch roller overcenter by the steps below:
NOTE: A locally fabricated tool may be desirable to
____ obtain the straight line relationship.
a) Disconnect the control rods (4) from the top and bottom latch torque tubes (5) at their crank (4). b) Align the latch torque tube (5), the crank (2), and the gate control rod (1) in a straight line relationship.
3) While you have a straight line relationship, adjust the length of the upper and lower control rods (3) as necessary to permit installation of the bolt through the control rod end and crank (4).
4) Connect the control rod (3) to the latch torque tube (5) for the upper and lower control rods. 5) With the mechanism in the closed position, make sure that the latch rollers engage the latch roller cam fittings.

Open and close the door.
(a)
See that the FWD ENTRY light on the P5 panel comes on when the door is not latched.
(b)
Feel that the door moves freely through the full cycle.
(c)
See that the FWD ENTRY light on the P5 panel is off when the door is latched.

Open the door to the cocked position.

Do a test of the snubber.
(a)
Try to move the door quickly from the cocked position.
(b)
Feel that the snubber operates to make the door move slowly.
