 A.  This procedure contains a task to do an operational check of the snubber on the forward or aft cargo door. This procedure is a scheduled maintenance task.

 A.  Standard Tools and Equipment
 (1)  
Door Support Brace - 2 x 4 inch wood painted red of applicable length to put the door in the open position.

Do the Operational Check of the Snubber


 S 016-002-B00
 (1)  Open the cargo compartment door.
 S 496-003-B00
 WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE DOOR SUPPORT BRACE TO KEEP THE DOOR
_______ IN THE OPEN POSITION. IF THE DOOR BALANCE MECHANISM AND THE SNUBBER ARE DISCONNECTED AND THE DOOR IS LATCHED OPEN, THE DOOR CAN FALL TO THE CLOSED POSITION AND RESULT IN INJURY OF DAMAGE.
 (2)
Use the door support brace to keep the door in the open position.

 (3)
Disconnect the balance mechanism cable (AMM 52-31-00/401).

Remove the door support brace and see that the snubber does not let the door close quickly.

Open the cargo compartment door.

 (1)  
Close and latch the cargo door.

 (2)  
Remove the bolt (16), washer (18), and locknut (19) that attach the interior handle (17) to the actuator (14).

Remove the interior handle (17).

 (4)  
Remove the screws (25).

 (5)  
Remove the panel (24) with the collar (20) from the actuator (14).

 (6)  
Remove the lockwire and the two screws (21) that attach the screw fitting (22) to the actuator (14).

 (7)  
Remove the screw fitting (22).

 (8)  
Remove the bolt (24), washer (25), bushing (15), washer (27), castellated nut(28) and cotter pin (29) to disconnect the rod (26) from the handle assembly.
