 (5)  
Make sure the latch rollers engage the latch fittings correctly.

 (a)  
Make sure the inside handle is in the closed position.

 (b)  
Put the rig pin through the hole in the latch roller (Section B-B).

 (c)  
If necessary, drill the rigging hole (Fig. 501).

 (d)  
Make sure the rig pin goes into the hole in the latch fitting.

 (e)  
Change the length of the control rod if the rig pin does not go into the latch fitting. 1) Make sure the handle is in the closed position. 2) Disconnect the control rod. 3) Insert the rig pin. 4) Change the length of the control rod until you can connect

 it to the torque tube.

 (f)  
Make sure the latch rollers engage the latch fittings smoothly.

 (g)  
See that the latch rollers engage the latch fittings with a minimum width of 0.25 inch.

 (h)  
Do a check of the play in the end of the latch torque tubes. 1) See that the play in the end of the torque tubes is a maximum of 0.02 inch.


 2)  Change the shims in the end of the torque tube to get the correct play.

 (6)  
Adjust the handle mechanism.

 (a)  
Move the handle to the closed position.

 (b)  
Make sure the latch rollers are in the latch fittings before the torque tube starts to turn. 1) Adjust the door inboard or outboard to put the latch


 rollers in the correct position. a) Change the length of the push rod (12) to move the door.
 NOTE: When the control rod is longer, the door moves
____ inboard. When the control rod is shorter, the door moves outboard.

 (c)  Do a check of the force that is necessary to put the external handle in its recess.
 NOTE: When the length of the push rod changes, the force

 1) Pull the external handle from its recess.
 2) Use a spring scale to put the handle in its recess.
 3) See that you use less than 20 pounds to put the handle in

 its recess. a) Make the control rod (12) longer if it is necessary to decrease the force. 4) See that the lubrication fitting on the control rod is inboard. 5) Tighten the nut on the control rod.
 (d)  Look at each latch roller as the door closes.
 1)  See that the roller does not touch the edge of the latch fitting as the handle moves to the closed position.

 (7)  
Adjust the gate flushness.

 (a)  
Change the length of the gate control rods until you get the correct flushness (Fig. 502).

 (b)  
Make sure the lubrication fitting on the gate control rod is inboard.

 (c)  
While the door is closed and latched, adjust the gate stop rods. 1) Move the rod on the stop rod until it touches the bearing. 2) Make sure the lubrication fitting is inboard.

 (8)  
Adjust the stop pins (26) as follows:

 NOTE: The stop pins are correctly adjusted if the clearance
____ between all stop pins and stop pads is between 0.015 and
 0.030 inch when the door is fully closed and latched. You can get a minimum stop pin travel of 0.007 inch through different combinations of stop pin and stop pin bushing grooves.
 (a)  
Make sure the door is closed and latched.

 (b)  
Move the stop pins outboard until they touch the stop fittings.

 (c)  
Turn the stop pins 1/2 turn inboard.

Turn the stop pins inboard until grooves in the stop pin and stop pin bushing align.
